Kautex Textron Factory of the Future 2020

Factories of the Future

Founded in 1935, manufacturer of plastic storage tanks Kautex was sold to the Textron group in 1996. Since then, the company has continuously played an important pioneering role in the production of fuel tanks, with the aim of achieving ever lower emission standards. This resulted in the production of the first high-pressure hybrid tank made entirely of plastic in 2015. In addition to fuel tanks, Kautex produces clear-vision systems and packaging products.

Kautex Benelux in Tessenderlo was built in 1991 with the aim of building the Transit tank for Ford in Genk. Soon some other models and brands followed. However, the closures of a few large automotive companies in Belgium did not do the plant any good, but thanks to the employees, the targeted implementation of lean techniques and the constant focus on the further development of knowledge towards automation, the plant was able to maintain its market position. Today the plant produces fuel tanks for different car makes and models.

The plant, like the automobile industry, is constantly changing. New production techniques, the use of machine data and continuous reinvention ensure that Kautex Tessenderlo remains competitive in its segment. Today man and robot go hand in hand at the plant. These challenges keep Kautex employees, who work as self-managing teams, sharp and offer them opportunities to develop themselves further. Kautex will continue to take steps towards the future of new mobility.
